Consultation Events
We recently held a consultation at Bishop Fox’s School.
A big thank you to the people who gave up their time to take part!
18 children from age 11 – 15 took part in the consultation
The children were introduced to the innovative world of Proludic!
They were shown videos of equipment and some preliminary designs.

The children were divided into 3 groups and asked to come up with their own design with the help of the higher holway team.

They then talked about their designs and about what pieces of equipment they liked.
They then took part in a modeling session in order for them to understand the concepts of landscaping. They came up with a variety of ideas and some interesting models!!

The kids were asked to think about the different textures and levels they would like to see in the play area.

The final part of the consultation consisted of asking the children for their 2 main wishes.
A list was compiled of the wishes and will be analyzed by the design team.

Kids get chance to design play area
CHILDREN and young people are to help shape a new £100,000-plus play space in Taunton.
Youngsters who will use the site on Rowan Drive, Holway, are being asked by Taunton Deane Council to come up with their own ideas.
Equipment suppliers Proludic, participation workers from Barnardo's and a landscape architect from Swan Paul will work with them throughout the project.
Next week they are visiting Bishop Fox's Community School, in Taunton, with students from Richard Huish College, and they will also visit Holway Park Community School.
The older age group will have a budget for play equipment and items such as fencing or excavations and be asked to come up with costed, feasible plans.
The primary children will be encouraged to make a model of their ideal play space.
Those taking part, or interested in the scheme will be able to keep in touch online at www.higherholway.co.uk and there will be a link to the YouTube website so young people can see different play equipment in action.
Cllr Richard Lees, Executive Councillor for Leisure, Arts and Culture, said: "This is a really exciting scheme and the first time such an approach has been taken in Taunton Deane. It really will be a community play space designed by the people who will be using it."
